You can call your credit card issuer or go online to request an increase in credit limit.  A higher credit limit gives you more flexibility and lower credit utilization which helps your credit score.  Keep a few things in mind when making the request: the issuer may ask for your recent income information; make sure you have a track record of paying bills on time - otherwise, you may want to wait.  Last but not least, higher credit limit does not mean you can overspend, or it can make matters worse by potentially allowing you to carry a higher credit card balance.
